Deuteronomy 30 - Day 238 (link to reading plan)
Scripture: Deuteronomy 30:1-5 Observation: Moses prophesies that the Israelites will abandon their covenant with God and then explains what they will need to do to be blessed again. Application: God already knew what was in the Israelite's (and ours too) hearts. He knew that they would eventually disobey His commandments and stray from their covenant with Him. Rather than banishing them forever, He reminds them that He loves them and is committed to their success. Wow. Prayer: Lord Jesus, have mercy on me a sinner. Deuteronomy 29 - Day 237 (link to reading plan)
Scripture: Deuteronomy 29:14-15 Observation: Moses reminds the Israelites that the covenant that they are making with God is a lasting agreement that is also extended to their children as well. Application: Isn't it funny that a lifetime guarantee is only for twenty years. Who determined that a lifetime is only twenty years? Luckily for the Israelites, God's covenant is eternal and his blessings are guaranteed to those who obey Him, regardless of whichever generation you/we are from. Prayer: Lord, thank You for your grace that gives us life everlasting. Deuteronomy 28 - Day 236 (link to reading plan)
Scripture: Deuteronomy 28:1-6, 15-19 Observation: Moses details the blessings or curses the Israelites will receive depending on their actions. Application: God loves us so much that He gives us the freedom to choose obedience or to disobey. If we didn't have the freedom to make our own decision, then our "obedience" wouldn't really reflect our true feelings. Prayer: Lord, sometimes I wish I didn't have the freedom to disobey You, but I understand why. Thank You... Deuteronomy 27 - Day 235
Scripture: Deuteronomy 27:1-10 Observation: Moses and the leaders command the Israelites to build an altar on Mount Ebal inscribed with the Lord's instructions to remind them of their commitment that they made to God. Application: Sometimes we need post-it notes to help us remember what's important. Do what you need to do in order to love God and your neighbor and to be an apprentice of Jesus who makes apprentices of Jesus. Prayer: Lord, You are worthy of my undivided affection... Deuteronomy 26 - Day 234 (link to reading plan)
Scripture: Deuteronomy 26:16-19 Observation: Moses reminds the Israelites that they have already declared their allegiance to God so now they need to follow through with their commitment. Application: Every relationship has responsibilities that come with the association. At the most basic level, parents are responsible to nurture and protect their offspring, while children are to grow, mature, and obey their parents. Likewise, God has promised to love and care for His children in return for their respect and obedience. Prayer: Lord, I don't deserve Your love but I truly appreciate it. |
