2 Chronicles 20 - Day 625 (link to reading)
Scripture: 2 Chronicles 20:21-22 Observation: Jehoshaphat and the people entreat the Lord to rescue them from their enemies and YHWH concedes. On their way to the battlefield, the king appoints singers to walk ahead of the army, singing to the Lord and praising Him for His Holy Splendor and their enemies annihilate each other. Application: Really? Yes, really. Do I understand it (the principles behind what happened? No, but I don't care). Rejoice in the Lord always. Give thanks to the Lord; His faithful love endures forever! Praise God because He deserves to be praised, not because you understand what's going on or even feel like it. Prayer: Holy, Holy, Holy is the Lord Almighty... 2 Chronicles 19 - Day 624 (link to reading)
Scripture: 2 Chronicles 19:1-3 Observation: Hanani the seer confronts Jehoshaphat for his alliance with the wicked Ahab. Application: We all need people like Hanani in our lives. We may not like them, hang out with them or even be their friends, but we all need someone who will speak God's truth to us. Prayer: Lord, speak your servant is listening... 2 Chronicles 18 - Day 623 (link to reading)
Scripture: 2 Chronicles 18:1-34 Observation: This chapter explains how Jehoshaphat made an alliance with King Ahab and is persuaded to go to war. Application: This chapter has so many lessons to be learned but also left me with some unanswered questions. However, in the end, it all worked out for good, as evil Ahab is killed by a random arrow shot by an unnamed Aramean soldier. Prayer: Lord, help me to understand Your ways... 2 Chronicles 17 - Day 622 (link to reading)
Scripture: 2 Chronicles 17:3 Observation: Asa's son Jehoshaphat followed his father's early example and worshipped YHWH. Application: Jehoshaphat "caught" his father's love for YHWH and copied his example. Lesson - show others, especially your friends and family who don't know Jesus, that you love YHWH. Prayer: Lord, show us Your glory... 2 Chronicles 16 - Day 621 (link to reading)
Scripture: 2 Chronicles 16:1-10 Observation: In Asa's attempt to defend himself from the king of Israel, he takes matters into his own hands. Application: For whatever reason, Asa did not seek the Lord for help. Worse, when he was confronted by God's messenger, Asa reacted with anger. We are all susceptible to our insecurities and sins, so the lesson here is when we mess up, own it and repent. Don't be like Asa and try to hide or cover up your sins. Prayer: Lord Jesus, have mercy on me a sinner... |
