Jeremiah 16 - Day 666 (link to reading)
Scripture: Jeremiah 16: 14-21 Commentary (thewarehouse.blog): The hope offered by God at the end of the chapter is much needed. He has done this several times as a repeating pattern with Jeremiah. He will give him a challenge, rebuke, or message, and then follow it up with hope for the future. There’s no question that Jeremiah needed this vision to sustain him as it seemed many times like nothing was happening. God challenges us to unimaginable levels but always is there to provide the hope and encouragement we need to continue in our faith. He is faithful. Application: Jeremiah was asked to sacrifice a lot of his personal desires to obey the Lord. He didn't get married or have children and became a social outcast to illustrate the devastation and loneliness that the nation would experience. Yet in the end, Jeremiah was able to look toward the future promises of God. Each day is a gift and an opportunity to experience God's mercies. Prayer: Lord, have Your way in me...
