Judges 18 - Day 310 (link to today's reading)
Scripture: Judges 18:16-26 Observation: The tribe of Dan was trying to find a place where they could settle. Application: in a world where might makes right, a Levite propositions himself to the highest bidder and the tribe of Dan steals from their host and massacres a peaceful and secure town. Prayer: Lord, we need You. We need Your power to sustain us and Your presence to remind us that there are and will be consequences for our actions... Judges 17 - Day 309 (link to today's reading)
Scripture: Judges 17:6 Observation: Please read the whole chapter. It's only 13 verses but there are so many things wrong within this short story. Application: The farther we are from God the more carnal we become and are able to justify all of our decisions. Micah stole a large sum of money from his mother. Upon returning the money, his mother casts a silver idol to worship, but gives thanks to the Lord. The Levite "sells" his services to Micah for 10 pieces of silver and a change of clothes because "all the people did whatever seemed right in their own eyes." Prayer: Lord have mercy on me a sinner... Judges 16 - Day 308 (link to today's reading)
Scripture: Judges 16:1 Observation: Samson was a human being with character flaws, just like us. Application: There are many things in the bible I don't understand. It would be easy to question< "Why would God use such a carnal human being to represent Him?" However, I've come to learn the hard way, that it's better and healthier to use the bible to examine my own life. What can I learn from Samson's life that I can apply into my own? Prayer: Lord, I trust that You know what You are doing and that Your plans are perfect. Please help me to focus on what I need to do in my own life to be free from my carnal desires. Judges 15 - Day 307 (link to today's reading)
Scripture: Judges 15:14-20 Observation: God uses Samson to accomplish His mission. Application: The bible tells us that God's ways are not our ways. Hence, just because we don't understand what God is trying to accomplish or why He may have chosen someone (including ourselves) who we may never have considered, doesn't mean that He doesn't know what He's doing. Faith is trusting God even when we don't understand what He may be doing. Prayer: Lord, help me to trust You... Judges 14 - Day 306 (link to today's reading)
Scripture: Judges 14:1-4 (it would benefit you to read the whole chapter) Observation: Manoa's wife gives birth to a boy, just as the angel of the Lord prophesied. However, the young man is wild and doesn't play by the "rules." Application: God was able to use Samson to further His purposes, despite his belligerent attitude. There's hope for us yet. However, it doesn't end well for Samson so learn from his mistakes and make the necessary changes to be wholly devoted to God. Prayer: Lord, bind my wandering heart to thee... |
