2 Chronicles 31 - Day 635 (link to reading)
Scripture: 2 Chronicles 31:5-10 Observation: Hezekiah reinstituted the "Tithe" and the people responded generously by bringing the first share of their crops, livestock and all they produced and the Lord blessed His people. Application: Tithes are not "payments" to God for services rendered. Our tithes are symbolically a reflection of our heart, as we faithfully obey YHWH's instructions. We don't give God our tithes expecting to be blessed. We give because God has already blessed us abundantly. In our obedience, God blesses us more. Prayer: Lord, I give You my heart... 2 Chronicles 30 - Day 634 (link to reading)
Scripture: 2 Chronicles 30:1-27 Observation: Hezekiah invites all of Israel and Judah to celebrate the Passover of the Lord. Most of the northern tribes laughed but some Israelites humbled themselves and went to Jerusalem and obeyed YHWH by celebrating the Passover (Festival of Unleven Bread). Application: YHWH's mercies are new every morning. Great is His faithfulness. It's been over 280 years since the kingdom of Israel was split into two, so it's been over 280 years since the Northern tribes have celebrated the Passover. Yet, as they humbled themselves, the Lord healed the people. Wow. Prayer: Lord, bind my wandering heart to Thee... 2 Chronicles 29 - Day 633 (link to reading)
Scripture: 2 Chronicles 29:10 Observation: Hezekiah chooses to please the Lord and re-establishes a covenant with YHWH. Application: Hezekiah could have looked the other way and simply do the same things that his predecessor did. For whatever reason, he chose not to follow in the footsteps of Ahaz. He courageously took it upon himself to rally the Priests and Levites to restore the Temple. Likewise, we can fall into old ruts that lead us aimlessly through life (even in church). Choose to worship YHWH with all of your heart, mind, soul, and strength. Prayer: Lord, You alone I long to worship... 2 Chronicles 28 - Day 632 (link to reading)
Scripture: 2 Chronicles 28:1-4 Observation: Ahaz followed the detestable practices of the pagan nations of Canaan and sacrificed his own sons in the fire so God allowed the kings of Aram and Israel to defeat Judah and its army. Application: In America alone, there are over 600,000 infants killed in legalized abortions. I know that it's a complex issue and that there are no easy answers but I keep wondering, "Are we any different today than the Canaanites 4000 years ago?" Prayer: Lord Jesus, have mercy on me a sinner... 2 Chronicles 26 & 27 - Day 631 (link to reading)
Scripture: 2 Chronicles 26:16-20 Observation: Uzziah became proud and in his arrogance, chose to do something that he was not supposed to do. Application: Stay in your lane. Stop thinking the grass is greener on the other side of the fence. Everyone has a role to play. We all have gifts, talents, and responsibilities. Focus on what we need to do, etc. Prayer: Lord, help me be content in You... |
