Joshua 10 - Day 273 (link to today's reading)
Scripture: Joshua 10:8 Observation: Even though the Israelites were tricked into making a covenant with the Gibeonites, the Lord blessed their efforts to keep their commitment. Application: Be a person of integrity and keep your word, especially to yourself. The Lord honored the Israelite's promise. Prayer: Lord, help me to be true to You and myself... Joshua 9 - Day 272 (link to today's reading)
Scripture: Joshua 9:1-14 Observation: The Gibeonites deceive the Israelites and take advantage of their naivety. Application: Fool me once shame on you, fool me twice, shame on me. The Israelites made a binding covenant with the Gibeonites before consulting with the Lord because they thought they knew better. Obviously, they didn't and now they had to suffer the consequences of disobeying God. Prayer: Lord, help me to remember to rely on You, especially then things are going well. Joshua 8 - Day 271 (link to today's reading)
Scripture: Joshua 8:9-22 Observation: After dealing with Achan, Joshua and the Israelites prepare to attack Ai again. Application: Just because we have God on our side, doesn't me we don't have to come us with a plan. The Israelites used the old "bait and switch" technique to lure Ai's army away from the town, leaving it defenseless. Take the time to develop the best strategy before proceeding. Prayer: Lord, lead and I will follow... Joshua 7 - Day 270 (link to today's reading)
Scripture: Joshua 7:1-12 Observation: A man named Achan disobeyed God's command and stole some of the dedicated things so God withdrew His support from the Israelites. Application: Our sins directly affect others. Achan's sin caused the deaths of many Israelite warriors who went into battle against the city of Ai. Prayer: Lord, have mercy on me a sinner. Forgive me, cleanse me, heal me so my faults will not be counted against my family, friends or Waiokeola... Joshua 6 - Day 269 (link to today's reading)
Scripture: Joshua 6 Observation: God gives Joshua specific instructions for the Israelites as they prepare to go into battle with the walled city of Jericho. Application: I've said it before and I'll most likely say it again, "God's ways are not our ways." Why would God have the Israelites parade around Jericho for seven days with a marching band and the Ark of the Covenant? God gives us the freedom to choose to do it His way or our way. His way is always better because His way is guaranteed to work. Prayer: Lord, help me to obey You and Your commands... |
