Scripture: 1 Chronicles 19:1-9 Observation: A new king accepts bad advice and makes matters worse by escalating the problem. Application: The circumstances have certainly changed but the lesson is still applicable to us today. When we make mistakes, we need to take ownership of our errors and humble ourselves to fix the situation. Hanun chose to do the opposite and carnage ensued. Prayer: Lord, give me Your heart for people... 1 Chronicles 18 - Day 576 (link to today's reading)
Scripture: 1 Chronicles 18:1-11 Observation: The Lord made David victorious wherever he went. In this short chapter, David captures 20,000 soldiers of Hadadezer, kills 22,000 Arameans from Damascus, and 18,000 Edomites in the Valey of Salt (Abishai is credited). Application: Although victory over our enemies may look different today than it did 3000 years ago, the Lord still determines the outcome. Our battle today is won on our knees. Prayer: Lord, accomplish Your will in and through me... 1 Chronicles 17 - Day 575 (link to today's reading)
Scripture: 1 Chronicles 17:1-4 Observation: David expresses his concerns of wanting to build a temple for the Ark of God to Nathan the prophet, who then presumptuously grants him permission to do "whatever you have in mind." Application: Good ideas aren't always necessarily from God, so don't presume that they are. Nathan overstepped his position and assumed that God would be pleased with David's request to build a temple for the Ark. Prayer: Lord, forgive my arrogance and please reveal Your will... 1 Chronicles 16 - Day 574 (link to today's reading)
Scripture: 1 Chronicles 16: 34-36 Observation: As the Ark of God was brought to Jerusalem and placed in the special tent, David gave Asaph and the Levites a song of thanksgiving to the Lord. Application: And all the people shouted "Amen!" and praised the Lord because they wanted to express the joy in their hearts and minds. When was the last time I shouted 'Amen"? Prayer: Amen! Amen! Amen! Lord, You are good and worthy of our praise... 1 Chronicles 15 - Day 573 (link to today's reading)
Scripture: 1 Chronicles 15:11-15 Observation: David makes the necessary preparations to bring the Ark of the Covenant to Jerusalem. Application: In their first attempt to bring the Ark of God to Jerusalem, no one consulted with YHWH or took the time to research how to move the Ark, and consequently God killed Uzzah when the oxen stumbled and he touched the Ark to prevent it from falling off the cart. The priests should have known better. What am I missing? Will my negligence cause others to suffer? Prayer: Lord, show me Your ways... |
