Observation: The author shares that David's family, relatives, and others joined him at the cave of Adullam.

Application: Leadership guru, John Maxwell has repeatedly stated that "Leadership is influence - nothing more, nothing less."  To determine your effectiveness as a leader, just look behind you and see who is following.  People will only follow you if they know that you care about them.  David drew 400 people to him in the wilderness to live in a cave with him.
