Acts 11 - Day 722 (link to reading)
Scripture: Acts 11:1-3 Observation: Before Peter has a chance to glorify God and share what happened, the “circumcised believers criticized him.” Old habits die hard. Application: Take the time to reflect, dialogue, and discern what God is saying instead of succumbing to any knee-jerk reactions. Prayer: Lord Jesus, have your way in us. Acts 10 - Day 721 (link to reading)
Scripture: Acts 10:1-4 Observation: Cornelius was an officer in the Roman army who was part of the institution that oppressed the Israelites. As an officer, he was loyal to Caesar, who was considered to be a Demi-god. Yet somehow, someway, he was introduced to the God of Israel and Cornelius began to worship Yahweh - as evident by his prayers and gifts to the poor. Application: Actions speak louder than words. Are my actions communicating my love for Jesus? Prayer: Thank you Lord for the opportunities that you provide to share your love, compassion and grace to those who need it most. Acts 9 - Day 720 (link to reading)
Scripture: Acts 9:10-14 Observation: Sometimes Jesus asks us to do things that we don’t understand. Application: Faith is developed in obedience. It's when we don't understand "why" we're doing what we're doing but we choose to do what God asks us out of obedience. Prayer: Lord, please help my unbelief. Acts 8 - Day 719 (link to reading)
Scripture: Acts 8:9-13 Observation: Everyone needs Jesus, even a sorcerer. Simon would amaze people with his magic tricks but was himself amazed when Phillp manifested the kingdom of God with great signs and miracles. However, just because a person believes in Jesus doesn’t mean that they’ve changed as we witness in verses 18-24 (please open up your bibles and read the text). Application: Thank God that He meets us where we are, but loves us too much to leave us there. Like Simon, we all have baggage that we carry with us into our relationship with Jesus. When confronted with our faults, we can choose to repent or continue to "do it my way." Prayer: Thank you Lord for your patience as You meet me where I am and Your saving grace that sanctifies me. |
