Exodus 1 - Day 54 (link to reading plan)
Scripture: Exodus 1:8-10 8 Eventually, a new king came to power in Egypt who knew nothing about Joseph or what he had done. 9 He said to his people, “Look, the people of Israel now outnumber us and are stronger than we are. 10 We must make a plan to keep them from growing even more. If we don’t, and if war breaks out, they will join our enemies and fight against us. Then they will escape from the country.” Observation: After a change in leadership, the Israelites were no longer appreciated in Egypt. Application: Joseph's heroic deeds were quickly forgotten and the only thing that remained was a peculiar people who worshipped one God. In one hundred years, we'll all be forgotten but our influence on those we love will remain. Our greatest legacy we can leave our loved ones is our relationship with Jesus. Prayer: Lord Jesus, as You revealed Yourself to Abraham, Isaac, Jacob, and their descendants, please reveal Yourself to my children and their families. Proverbs 2 - Day 53 (link to reading plan)
Scripture: Proverbs 2:12-15 Observation: There are people in the world that chose to live in darkness and evil than in the light and goodness. Application: Our enemy is evangelizing his message and is making disciples too. Wisdom from God will help us discern the difference and save us from those "whose words are twisted." Seek wisdom and understanding in and through your relationship with God. Prayer: Lord, please give me Your wisdom and direct my steps today. Proverbs 1 - Day 52 (link to reading plan)
Scripture: Proverbs 1:2-7 Observation: Wisdom and discipline can be learned from experience but it is far better to gain these life-changing character traits from other people's experiences. Application: Be a lifelong learner but more importantly, apply what you have learned, especially from the bible. Prayer: Lord, please give me "fresh" eyes to see You and Your goodness when I read the bible. Psalm 1, 2, & 3 - Day 51 (link to reading plan)
Scripture: Psalm 3:1-4 Observation: David cries out to the Lord as he flees Jerusalem because of a coup led by his son Absalom. Application: Even though King David was not in the running for father of the year, I'm pretty sure he never imagined that his son would lead a coup to steal the kingdom from him. Having been in the same situation before, when fleeing from King Saul, David turns to God for help, hope and comfort. Prayer: Lord have mercy. Christ have mercy. Lord have mercy. Genesis 50 - Day 50 (link to reading plan)
Scripture: Genesis 50:24-25 Observation: Joseph is about to die and reassures his brothers and the sons of Israel that God will come to lead them out of Egypt. Application: God is real and He keeps His promises so hang on to this truth and grow your faith in Him. Prayer: Lord, help me to sense Your presence and know that You are here with me now. |
