2 Chronicles 25 - Day 630 (link to reading)
Scripture: 2 Chronicles 25:14-16 Observation: After defeating the Edomites, with YHWH's help, Amaziah worships idols from the people of Seir, who he just defeated. Application: Stupid is as stupid does. Looking back on my life, I've done many stupid things that just doesn't make sense. The lesson is to accept our fallen nature and the fact that we'll make stupid decisions. However, rather than rationalize our bad choices, we must repent when confronted with our immaturity. Prayer: Lord Jesus have mercy on me a sinner... 2 Chronicles 24 - Day 629 (link to reading)
Scripture: 2 Chronicles 24:15-22 Observation: After Jehoiada's death, King Joash is persuaded by some evil leaders of Judah to abandon the Temple of the Lord and worship the pagan goddess Asherah. Application: All have sinned and fallen short of the glory of God. What happened to Joash? What would convince him to stray from YHWH God and worship pagan idols? Worse, he orders his mentor's son, Zechariah to be killed. Prayer: Lord, prevent/protect me from blaspheming Your Holy Name... 2 Chronicles 23 - Day 628 (link to reading)
Scripture: 2 Chronicles 23:12-15 Observation: Jehoiada the priest coordinates the coup to establish Joash as king. Application: Athaliah tore her clothes (signifying the despair in her heart) and cried out "Treason! Treason!" when she discovered what was happening. The bible tells us that we will reap what we sow. Athaliah took the throne by killing all of the living members of Judah's royal family. Naturally, it did not end well for her. Prayer: Lord, humble me for my arrogance blinds my ability and willingness to see You... 2 Chronicles 22 - Day 627 (link to reading)
Scriptures: 2 Chronicles 22:1-12 Observation: Ahaziah becomes Judah's next king but only reigns for one year. Application: The drama continues in the House of David but rather than being discouraged, I find comfort in knowing that the story is true. Who in their right mind would make up this stuff. Proving my point that everyone needs Jesus. Prayer: Lord Jesus, have mercy on me a sinner... 2 Chronicles 21 - Day 626 (link to reading)
Scripture: 2 Chronicles 21:1-20 Observation: Jehoram becomes king and does evil in the sight of the Lord. Application: Verse 20 tells us, "No one was sorry when he (Jehoram) died. Sadly, too many people in the world endure poor leaders who abuse their authority and create hostile living/working conditions. In the end, Jehoram suffered the consequences of his wicked ways, but the damage was already done. Be a good leader, husband, father, and friend. Choose to follow Jesus' example by serving those we lead. Prayer: Lord, empower me to pick up rubbish, clean toilets, do the laundry... |
