Isaiah 60 - Day 546 (link to today's reading)
Scripture: Isaiah 60:1-7 Commentary (bethmelehk.com): The idea of Israel’s redemption both physical and spiritual is implicit in the text and is illuminated by the Targum. In the context of the prophet’s time the physical redemption relates to Israel’s pursuant return from Babylonian captivity. However, in the prophetic present (past, present, future) the prophet is clearly speaking of the redemptive work of the Messiah, Who is implicitly referred to in 59:21 as the “Word”, and is known in Scripture as “Or Ha-olam: The Light of the World” (Yochanan [John] 8:12). Application: Without light, everyone stumbles around in the darkness trying to make sense of where they are. Having a relationship with Jesus makes life so much easier because he lights the way. Prayer: Lord Jesus, shine your light upon me... Comments are closed.
