Isaiah 8 - Day 499 (link to today's reading)
Scripture: Isaiah 8:13 Commentary: Regard as holy (06942) (qadash) means to set apart for a specific use by some agency. To consecrate, separate, set apart a person or thing from all common or secular purposes to some religious use. Everything consecrated to God was separated from all profane use. In the present context clearly God is Holy so we can't make Him more holy. But the charge is to think of Him as holy, remembering that the way one thinks affects (or at least should affect) the way one behaves! If we regard Jehovah as holy, we will seek to live in a holy or set apart way even as He is holy (cp 1Pe 1:15, 16-note). Application: God invites us into a relationship with Him. However, because He is Holy and we are not, we can't approach Him. Jesus is the lamb of God who came to take away the sins of the world, by sacrificing himself to pay our debt. Prayer: Holy, Holy, Holy is the Lord almighty... Comments are closed.
