Scripture: Deuteronomy 25:4 Commentary: This is a charge to husbandmen. It teaches us to make much of the animals that serve us. Scripture: Deuteronomy 24:5 Observation: Moses takes the time to "tie up any loose ends" with this section of miscellaneous regulations. Application; Newlyweds have other things on their mind so God grants them a temporary leave of absence from their military responsibility to take care of what they need to do. Modern leaders should take this into consideration with any newlyweds in their employment or ministry. Prayer: Lord, help me to be consolidate of others' needs. Scripture: Deuteronomy 23:7-8 Observation: Moses explains to the Israelites that they are not to detest the Edomites or Egyptians because of their relationship with them. Application: Relationships are important to God. Even though the Egyptians enslaved the Israelites, God makes provisions for them to enter into the Lord's assembly. Meaning that reconciliation is possible with former associates who have distanced themselves from you. Prayer: Lord, help me to be an agent of Your peace. Scripture: Deuteronomy 22:1-4 Observation: Moses instructs the people to be "nice" - kind and considerate. Application: Do the right thing, pick up the trash, return your neighbor's loose dog to him/her. These are the simple things that will help foster good relationships. When we choose to be nice, even though it inconveniences us, our neighbors will notice. Prayer: Lord, please help me to be nice. Deuteronomy 21 - Day 229 (link to reading plan)
Scripture: Deuteronomy 21:1-9 Observation: Moses gives the people a remedy for unsolved murders in their region. Application: Although the Levites weren't equipped to solve unattended murders like our modern-day forensic scientist, they were able to absolve the innocent townsfolk of the unsolved death. Life is precious, especially to God so He holds leaders accountable for those under them. Prayer: Lord, help me to care for those who You've entrusted to me. |
