Scripture: 2 Chronicles 14:1-15 Observation: Asa did what was pleasing and good in the sight of the Lord his God (verse 2). Application: You will reap what you sow. Asa did what was pleasing to the Lord his God and in return was rewarded for his obedience. Do I need to say anything more? Scripture: 2 Chronicles 13:6-9 Observation: King Abijah reminds Jeroboam and his army that, although they may have more soldiers, they have broken their covenant with YHWH. Application: Talking "smack" to your adversary is a strategy many professional athletes employ to "get into their opponent's heads." However, in this instance, I think Abijah was just telling the truth and reminding his "cousins" that they were wrong and would be punished for their sins. Scripture: 2 Chronicles 12:14 Observation: This short chapter summarizes Rehoboam's life. Application: In the end, Rehoboam was remembered as "an evil king, for he did not seek the Lord with all his heart." Yes, he was human and obviously flawed, like we are but because he was the King of Israel, his life was recorded in the bible. Wisdom reminds us to take the good from Rehoboam's life and leave the rest behind. Prayer: Lord, have Your way in me... 2 Chronicles 11 - Day 616 (link to reading)
Scripture: 2 Chronicles 11:1-4 Observation: In his anger, Rehoboam mobilizes the men of Judah to fight their relatives. Application: Despite his immaturity, Rehoboam listened to Shemaiah, the man of God and sent his troops back home. We all need someone to help us see the other perspective, especially if it's from the Lord. Prayer: Lord, show me which path to follow... |
